Setif dispatched Tunisian club side Monastir with a 3-1 victory in a second leg Asian Champions League quarter-final encounter. Algerian league leaders Setif managed a convincing 3-1 second leg win over Tunisian opponents Monastir in a match played on their synthetic pitch. Before the game, striker Abdelmalek Ziaya had told reporters that the ideal situation would be for his team to open the scoring early after achieving a positive 1-1 result in Tunisia. True to his words, Ziaya wasted no time in striking, finding the net after only five minutes. The lead did not last very long with Mohamed Hannachi equalising in the 19th minute to put the sides level on aggregate. However, Ziaya's proved too hot to handle for the Tunisians, who contrived to surrender two more first half goals to the same player. The scoreline was unchanged when the final whistle sounded and Ziaya's hat-trick helped put Setif through 4-2 on aggregate and booked their place in the semi-finals of the competition along with Club Sportif Sfaxien and Esperance Sportive de Tunis. The Black Eagles will play either Morocco's Wydad Casablanca or Jordan's Al-Wihdat in the next round. The Moroccans will be seeking to overturn a 2-1 deficit at home on Saturday.
